Knee Ankle Foot Orthosis (KAFO)
A KAFO is a custom or prefabricated brace that supports and aligns the entire lower limb from the thigh across the knee to the foot and ankle. It is used when an AFO alone is not enough to control the knee.
Who can benefit from Knee Ankle Foot Orthosis (KAFO)?
- Knee instability or buckling
- Lower limb muscle weakness or paralysis
- Neurological conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury, or multiple sclerosis
- Post-polio syndrome
- Severe ligament injuries
- Post-surgical recovery requiring knee protection
How it works
A KAFO provides support across multiple joints. It can stabilize the knee, maintain lower limb alignment, support weight transfer, and promote a more stable gait.
Types, features or options
